Trout Fishing Class
April 4 & 5
Join Abigail McQueen of Trout Unlimited and fisher/artisan Ashley Armstrong for a unique opportunity on Friday, April 4 and Saturday, April 5.
​
Come to The Highland Center at 5:30pm on April 4th to learn about the future of our trout streams and how to tie fishing lures. Then, on April 5th do some fishing and try out your new lures at the Hiner Trout Pond north of Monterey .

This opportunity is free, but please RSVP to Mary Beth at events@thehighlandcenter.org by March 31.

Doing Business with DCR & SWAM Certification

Virginia Department of Small Business and Supplier Diversity in Partnership with Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation and The Highland Center invites you to attend a free two-hour in-person workshop.
Learn about: how to do business with the Commonwealth of Virginia, getting SWaM Certification, registering in eVA, how to do business with the Virginia Department of Conservation and Recreation, what products and Services DCR will be buying for the new state park.

Farmers' Market Vendor Meeting

Square Dance
Saturday, April 26
Enjoy a grand Highland County tradition - a square dance with live band and callers! You'll have the chance to brush up on your square dance skills at the workshop from 6:30-7pm, then be ready to dance the night away!

The cost is just $10 per person, and $5 for kids 12 and under. Refreshments will be available for purchase.

Highland Youth Philanthropy Council Grants
Due April 20
The Highland Youth Philanthropy Council is now accepting grant applications for the 2025 season. Later this spring, $10,000 will be awarded to nonprofit organizations serving Highland County.
Applications are due at midnight on April 20. The online application and 2025 funding priorities can be found here.
LaBlast Dance Fitness Class
4:00 - 5:00 pm every Wednesday
Instructor Caryn Brown offers a fun dance fitness class at The Highland Center every Wednesday afternoon. Participants work up a sweat as they move in time to a fun variety of music! Everyone welcome. A donation of $5-10 per class is suggested.
Youth Employment Program
Applications due May 2
The Highland Center's Youth Employment Program helps subsidize the cost for local businesses to employ local teens during the summer months. Youth have the opportunity to gain work experience, learn new skills, and discover new opportunities and local businesses and opportunities benefit from the energy and knowledge of our young people.

Community Yoga
2nd & 4th Sunday of the month at 3pm
Yoga instructor Jessica Glendinning offers yoga instruction at The Highland Center twice a month. Payment is by donation with the requested donation range $10-15 per class.
